Australia's Pink Lakes, or Salt Lake, or Dead Sea

Written by Paul Bourke

Wimmera, Victoria. 2005.

"The pink lakes colour comes from a pigment secreted by microscopic algae found in some hypersaline wetlands. This pigment (beta carotene), also found in carrots and oranges, is used as a food colouring and a rich source of vitamin A."
