SfM funCompiled by Paul Bourke
Photogrammetry, 3D reconstruction from images, SfM (Structure from Motion) are terms given to a range of algorithms that derive 3D models purely from a collection of images. A key part of the process involves finding matching points between the images, through the so called "bundler" process these are used to find the intrinsic characteristics of the camera. It is easy to imagine cases when this process will struggle, one is with highly reflective surfaces, or objects with optical properties such as water. The results of the reconstruction algorithms can often be surprising, amusing and perhaps artistic sculptures.Glossy blob
